Audigy 2 ZS drivers for Windows 7

I've been getting truck loads of e-mail on which drivers I'm using with my Audigy 2 ZS on Windows 7. To try and stem the tide here's the quick findings:

1) The Audigy 2 ZS drivers that Windows installs from Windows Update for both 32-bit and 64-bit occationally produce garbled audio. These are dated 2006 and are probably identical to the original Windows Vista release.

2) Newer drivers resolve this, or at least it hasn't happened in the last week I've been using these drivers. I've been using the modified 'Danial_K' drivers on both Vista and 7. They fix the garbled audio issue on Windows 7. Creative’s own newer Vista release may fix it, but I haven't tested them.

3) They do have some problems however, CMSS doesn't work, and some of the Creative apps don't work on 64-bit.

4) Updated: Download the updated drivers from here.

For X-Fi people, I know the drivers from Creative's website will install if you run them in compatibility mode as they do a version check off the bat which would fail.

Due to the volume of e-mail I'm getting on this issue I won't be able to respond to all of them, don't take it personally.

Actually, both the Windows Update driver AND the Creative Drivers (from Creative website, both official and Beta), and actually the Daniel_K drivers, they all have the same result.
Most of the time the audio plays normally. But once in a while, for short periods, it becomes really distorted.

I'm talking about the Windows 7 x64 beta.

Try to set your Default Speaker output to 24bit 44100Hz

Guide for Win7:
Control Panel > HW and Sound > Manage audio devices > Speakers > Advanced > Default Format -> Set to 24bit 44100Hz

I tried this drivers, the creative officials and the kx's and no one of them solved the problem.

The only solution is reinstall XP, I think

Hi there!.

I hope this will help you with the sound blaster Audigy 2 ZS.
When I installed it under Windows 2008 server (which is the server version of the windows Vista), it wasn´t detected by the OS. I tried every driver I got and finally it did work using the sound blaster 128 pci driver. amazing!!.

Give it a try and post the results with Windows 7.

PS: Don´t worry if you use 5.1 speakers, you can continue using them with this driver. You only have to set them up under the control panel.

By the way, I used the KX driver for Win Server 2008 and it worked great for me. Although there was some mess with configuration, now I don't remember all the details...

Hi to everybody. I had the problem with the Audigy 2 ZS and could solve it I don't know if it works with 64 bit but it works excellent with 32 bit. First download the file SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0011 and install it. After installing you get ask for updating and this you have to do. When this update is installed you've your Audigy 2 ZS excellent working.

Even though I know I installed this driver before a redownload and reinstall of SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0011 worked!

This tip also produced a much richer sound.

Control Panel > HW and Sound > Manage audio devices > Speakers > Advanced > Default Format -> Set to 24bit 44100Hz

I've been having problems with my Audigy 2 card ever since I've upgraded to Vista 64-bit, and now I have the same problem with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and a new motherboard and CPU. With the newest Creative drivers dated April 2010 I have still issues with recording (mic and "What U Hear") where it's garbled. When I tried using the Daniel_K drivers, I can't get recording to work at all.

I resorted to using my onboard sound and it sucks with the interference and sound quality. I've been using a Sound Blaster for many years so I'm use to that quality.

Hello all,
I have Blaster Audigy2 ZS and lost my installation cd. So my question is: Do I try to get the installation cd from someone first or download updated drivers online because I have Windows 7 now and had XP in '04-05 when I purchased Soundblaster.
Also, will Creative send me a new cd if I provided them with the serial number?

Hello, can a Win7 32Bit user please tell me if stereo mix (or "what you hear") is available with this sound card?
I had this functionality with XP but I know some Win7 PCs don't have it available.

Thank you.

I had persistent issues during recording, such as "flickering" audio. The recording audio was good during recording (while listening to it) but the actual recording resulted in a "hopping" sound.

I resolved the problem setting both the speaker and the microphone (line 1) advanced format setting to
2 channels, 24 bit, 96000 Hz.

The sound is now clear and without distortions or flickerings.
Hope this helps.

Thanks to HeXor for the starting tip!

I have the Audigy2 zs Platinum Pro and Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My question is, does, or can, the "head unit" be made to work? It works with Windows XP 32-bit. Currently, I am using the latest SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0017 drivers from Creative, and nothing else at this point. Thank you.0
