Halo 2 for Windows Vista fact check

I'm finding more and more nonsense about this release, this stuff from the Bungie.net forums. Check this guy out: Unless you get a Gold Windows Live account, you're basically playing a demo of Halo 2. Microsoft wants you to pay for stuff that is free in virtually every other PC FPS. Wrong, there's just so much wrong with this statement. Firstly, what on Earth is a Gold Windows Live account? There's no such thing....

Halo 2 for Windows Vista resolutions

I spotted the first review claiming Halo 2 on Windows Vista would only go up to 1680x1050 a few weeks back now. I've seen that number spread to a number of other reviews on much more popular websites which should know better. Halo 2 will go up to *at least* 1920x1200.

Xbox 360 update coming this week

The update for the Xbox 360 that we covered in Gamercast Episode 66 is due to arrive this week, some of the improvements include low-power download mode, and Windows Live Messenger support. IGN however totally got the wrong end of the stick, it looks like while writing up this article somebody forget to check the date, this article is based upon a page on Xbox.com which is talking about last year's update which was released on the 6th of June, unfortunately some people didn't check IGN's article out for accuracy and are now screaming bloody murder because of the update being delayed....

Supreme Commander demo released

All real time stratagy fans should check out the Supreme Commander demo out. Here's the link to Gamespot's download (you need to be registered). Although I got better speeds from a torrent. It weighs in at just over 1GB, and features some of the single player campaign and skirmish (one map). I suppose the main attraction of this game is the scale of it. Some of the maps are 80km x 80km in size....

Halo 3 spotted on Xbox Live

Those familiar with Bungie Studios will probably be aware of the long tradition of Pimps at Sea. Some might remember it as being an April fool's joke one year (they announced they were producing a pirate game called Pimps at Sea). It's also been used to refer to games that are currently in development. Well as you can see (assuming the image hasn't been doctored) people are playing Pimps at Sea (Alpha)....

Halo 3 public beta coming early next year

Microsoft have announced that Halo 3 will have a public multiplayer beta in the spring. Feedback will be used to improve multiplayer for the games release later in 2007. Awesome! Hopefully they'll time it so its released right around the PlayStation 3 launch.

Kane is back

EA have got Joe Kucan back to play Kane in Command and Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars. Let's face it a C&C game set in the tiberium universe just wouldn't be right without the Messiah, err Kane. Now I just hope they improve the FMV sequencies, in Tiberian Sun (and even more so in Red Alert 2 *pukes*) they were awful. I actually played the original Command and Conquer for a few hours last night (yes it runs on Windows Vista)....
