I am so fed up with the damn Christian fundamentalists constantly using this in their propaganda, we have one of Kent Hovind's videos going on about evolution was Hitler's religion we have many others attacking atheism because Hitler was an atheist.
He and anybody else claiming that is lying, some evidence to back this up from Mein Kampf:
"Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord."
From one of Hitler's speeches in 1922:
"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savoir as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter."
It is true that Hitler in his later years distanced himself from mainstream Christianity, near the very end comparing it with the scourge of Judaism and Bolshevism.
But he still was not an atheist, from his speeches in the last 6 years of his life:
"We were convinced that the people need and require this faith. We have therefore undertaken the fight against the atheistic movement, and that not merely with a few theoretical declarations: we have stamped it out."
"In our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life".
In all reality Hitler sounds very much like these religious nuts, they're fiercely anti-science, anti-atheism, anti-socialist and anti-intelligence.
