Windows Mobile Marketplace on a custom ROM

As you may recall in my last post I was using a Touch Diamond to grab screenshots of the marketplace. Why wasn't I using my Touch Pro?

Well the Diamond was running a stock ROM, on my phone however typically I flash a custom ROM after a while. With this ROM the Marketplace application would simply fail when checking for updates, stating it was unable to connect with an error something like this:

Marketplace could not connect to the server. Please check your connection and try again.

One of the checks the Marketplace application seems to make us having a look at your version information. A lot of custom ROMs put thier own string in, which seems to be upsetting it. To check, open up your favourite registry editor and make your way to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Versions and change Aku to .5.3.00

And then soft reset and give it a go.

It seems like my "aku" is correct. What should be the value of "(Default)"? Mine says "(value not set)".

Unfortunately for me it didn't work. It's strange because on my Sony Xperia X1 updated with W.M 6.5 I can connect with MarketPlace without any problems whatsoever, but with the Htc Diamond 2 also updated I can't...I changed the registry in AKU :5.3.0 but I could not solve the problem, instead seems bit faster...which is good and few nice icons as utilities appear from nowwhere..which is good too. A part of that MarketPlace on my Htc diamond 2 still a dream yet.Does anyone have another solution?.francomur99@yahoo.it
Thanks

I have a HTC Diamond2 and same problem as Francesco Murru.
Marketplace does not work on it. When starting it looks for a newer version but then it fails.
I could use Marketplace the first weeks after I installed W6.5.
