As much as it irks me, I have to agree. Apple's advertising campaign used to be kind of cute, but now it's just flat out obnoxious.

tit for tat!
but honestly, vista is looking pretty hot on that macbook! alot more inviting that the mundane screenshot they used.

No, Microsoft doesn't spend their marketing budget on telling people why everything else sucks. Rather, they spend their money on mimicking Mac OS. :)

Do you have any data to back that up or are you just repeating Apple's illegal (it is in most of Europe) marketing line?

Data? There are features in Vista which mirror that of OS X (Instant Search, Gadgets, numerous security features, etc.). I don't think this is a bad thing. It will only benefit Vista. Likewise if the roles were reversed and in some cases, they sometimes are.
I don't have a bias to either operating system. I use both side by side in my career. I just call it as I see it.

Instant search - Microsoft announced it and demoed it before Apple even announced it. It was also available on Windows XP first too, through Google Desktop Search, MSN Desktop Search and others.
Gadgets - Apple ripped off Konfabulator which supplied a widget platform for both Windows and Mac OS. The sidebar (which today hosts Microsoft's gadget platform) was also announced and demoed before Apple even announced it.
Mac OS X doesn't have any major security features over Unix, Apple have done very little work in this space instead relying on what they've inherited from FreeBSD.
So the fact of the matter is when Apple say they invent and everybody else copies them - they're lying.

Paul, you're right. Microsoft demoed all this stuff way early than Apple.
But Apple put those stuff on the shelf and sold them out.
It's not matter of who get there 1st. It's matter of who makes the consumer happy and productive first.
As the history is proving. Not very high tech stuff are getting more grip on the consumers because the simply respondes at their needs at the right time.
Heh, nice. :)
When ever I see a Mac ad that directly attacks Windows, all I see is an insecure company.
Why not use your advertising space to talk about YOUR product? Instead of attacking another's.
