Brown messing with the minimum wage already

From the BBC:

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is considering plans which could see the minimum wage reduced in Northern Ireland, it is believed.

The minimum wage is set at £5.35 across the UK, however, if the plans go ahead it will be reduced in NI, Scotland, Wales and the north east of England.

Employment Minister Sir Reg Empey said he was disappointed with the idea.

"We have difficulty in getting people to leave benefit and go to work, this would make matters worse," he said.

"I think for that reason we have got to remember that the people who are receiving the minimum wage tend to be those people who are doing very basic jobs and I honestly don't think penalising them will improve our economic prosperity."

If true this is nothing short of an all out act of war upon the working class, and with the recent attacks upon democracy within the Labour Party it is a war we must be swift and decisive in winning.

NO SUPPORT FOR GORDON BROWN'S PRO-BUSINESS POLICIES.
FOR A LABOUR PARTY TO REPRESENT LABOUR.

Recently the US has increased the federal minimum wage to about $7.00 an hr. But with the current system for businesses this only hurts the middle class by increasing the price of products at stores. (Companies do not lose money when minimum wage increases they just pass it to the consumer) This is in turn allows people who are minimum wage people to feel better because they bring home a little more. But the price of goods also increased so it does not help the families. Instead it hurts us middle class by increasing the prices without us getting an additional raise.

Doesn't simple economics prove my theory. Also when I worked minimum wage I did not notice any difference in my pocket book when they increased the wage. (Of course I could be wrong here. Minimum wage increases so businesses needs to pay more for their employees. But the business makes the same profit as the year before. How did they do that? Either by cutting jobs or raising prices. I would think that this in turn would hurt the people the raise is supposed to help. Business will have greater incentive to move the workforce out of the US or by implementing more robotics to take away jobs. If this is not available the business would then raise prices. With any minimum wage increase there is always an increase in the cost of goods.
