Chimps and Pacman - evidence for evolution

Check out this video of a chimpanzee playing Pacman. OK he's not very good at it, but how many other animals would even understand they're moving something on the screen? Just look at his face at the end of the clip, so human.

What is the chance that we would have other animals that are just so human on the Earth? Evolution can explain it and predicts species would be very similar to other species.

Why would god create species so similar, with a few minor tweaks here and there that guy could be human and could play decent games like Civilization 4? Why would god be so cruel to limit these guys brains? What kind of god is that?

To me that speaks of evolution, of that we both share a common ancestor about 8 million years ago. Of course you could just argue god did it, but that attitude isn't going to cure diseases and result in a greater understanding of the cosmos.

that's cute. You can see over time the chimp learned some uber stratz. With time and conditioning, there's no reason why they couldn't play as good as one of us!

also reminds me of that instance where the zoo-keepers were trying to get their chimp to stop his smoking addiction......hey turns out chimps get addicted to drugs just like us :D

Have you ever seen a dog play with a toy? Have you ever seen a cat playing an eye pod game? Does that mean they are human?
Also animals can get addicted to drugs just like humans. Its a chemical addiction.

We're closely related to dogs and cats. Not so close that they can play Pacman though.

that is very amusing and informative. Im glad that there are more things out there that proves humans are animals too, and we are very much a stage of evolution.

I wonder what the next step for evolution is!? Gill? Wings? The ability to use the rest of our brain?

I can't see humans evolving gills since we don't really live under water, or wings. We use all of our brain already.

Any evolution humans are now undertaking is very much reduced as we're under so little pressure from nature. Natural selection largely has stopped as large parts of our population don't die out due to natural pressure; any pressure is man-made and does not generally discriminate against genes.

There are two new genes we've recently discovered in the human population, both increase brain size one mutation was from about 75000 years ago and the other from 25000 years ago, their numbers in the population are at about 70% and 20% respectively. So it is clear we've undergone evolutionary changes in the not too distant past, but within the last few hundred years most people consider it to of almost frozen.

The next big changes we'll undergo will be done by ourselves using genetic engineering. Then we'll show what life is really like when you use a designer, not natural processes that do just enough or a tiny bit more to survive.

That's just awesome. We'll create life, well at least further perfect it and shove it in "god's" face
